Jessica Warboys har produsert eit nytt tids- og stadsspesifikt verk, Sea Painting — eit sjømåleri til sommarens utstilling på Hå gamle prestegard. Sea Painting er produsert nedanfor strendene på Hå-tangen i dagane før utstillingsopning.
Sea Painting er laga i sjøkanten, under tidevatnets skilje. Etter at det er lagt i vatnet, er det vasstrukne lerretet trekt opp frå sjøen og strekt ut på stranda. Mineralpigment blir spreitt og blest ut direkte på det havbanka lerretet; fargekorna blir fanga i faldar og skrukkar. Vind, sand, steinar og faldar skaper nye former alt ettersom fargane rører seg over lerretet.
Måleri-installasjonen MOON WAVE MOON BURN slik den kan opplevast i dagslys i gallerirommet, er vendt ut mot staden der det vart laga og fungerer både som eit avtrykk og ein abstraksjon — ein spontan respons på landskapet på Hå. Sea Painting-installasjonen er ein flyktig gest, ei anerkjenning av den sterke historiekjensla på Hå og korleis vatnet og isen har forma landskapet gjennom tusenvis av år. Det er eit resultat av både eit konkret og eit flytande samarbeid med havet og sjøkanten. Det uspente lerretet er satt opp som eit diorama — ei løkke av hendingar som er ramma inn av rommet.

For an exhibition this summer at Hå gamle prestegard, Jessica Warboys is producing a time and site-specific Sea Painting, made on location at the beaches of Hå in the days leading up to the exhibition.
The Sea Painting is made below the high-water line at the sea's edge. After immersion, the sodden canvas is pulled from the sea and stretched out onto the beach. Mineral pigments are scattered and blown directly onto the sea-beaten canvas; its folds and creases catching grains of colour. Wind, sand, rocks and folds create forms through the movement of colours directed onto the canvas surface.
The painting installation MOON WAVE MOON BURN presented within the gallery walls, lit with daylight and facing out onto its place of making, acts as both record and abstraction — a spontaneous response to Hå’s landscape. The Sea Painting installation is a fleeting gesture, a recognition of the sense of history the place holds and to the Millennia of shape forming movement from water and ice. It is the result of both a concrete and fluid collaboration with the sea and its shoreline. The un-stretched work staged as a diorama — is a loop of events framed in the space.
