Torunn Skjelland og Kjersti Sundland arbeider med eit sett nøkkelord/omgrep som utgangspunkt for utstillinga. Dei arbeider tett opp mot kvarandre sine verk, men ikkje med eit fellesprosjekt.
Torunn Skjelland - Looking Backwards. «Grandtante Anna reiste til Uganda for å arbeide som sjukepleiar, rett før lausrivinga frå Britisk Afrika. Ei tid med mykje politisk uro, men der ein som lyshuda framleis nytte godt av ein europeisk overlegenheit». Denne fiktive historia er utgangpunkt for ei undersøking av immigrasjonshistorie, utvandring, kolonialisering og religion. Gjennom teikning, måleri og collage får personlege fotografi, gamle familiebilete og fotografi frå norsk misjonsarkiv eit nytt liv og innhald. I utstillinga blander Torunn Skjelland situasjonar, verdsdelar, tid og rom. Måleria og teikningane, som med første augekast ser ut som dokumentariske, er alle manipulerte og sett saman av fleire lag fotografi. I samanstilling og møte med det omarbeida materialet, oppstår ei ny historie. Skjelland har tidlegare arbeida ein del med familiealbum og foto der eit lite augeblink kan sjå ut til å representere livslang lukke, eit tema som ho stadig kjem attende til.
Kjersti Sundland - Recording Now. "Eg set foten på den fuktige bakken, den blaute jorda sig sakte gjennom stoffet i skoa mine. Eg kan ikkje sjå bakken og held greinene på trea på avstand frå kroppen. Eg stoppar opp for å høyre, tek eit steg attende, ventar for å gje auga tid til å bli vande med mørkret. Gradvis, samstundes at eg kjenner korleis føtene
blir blaute inni skoa, kjem deler av hendinga attende". Recording Now er ein videoinstallasjon, der den som er tilstade påverkar rørsle og lys i filmen ved å lage lyd i rommet. Kunstnaren arbeider med korleis me hugsar stader og situasjonar, og korleis hendingar og minner blir prega inn i kroppen. Kjersti Sundland er tilsett som lektor i nye medier ved Kunst og Designhøgskolen i Bergen. I tillegg til å arbeide med eigne kunstprosjekt er Sundland medlem av kunstargruppene Undersentralen og Doppler.

Torunn Skjelland and Kjersti Sundland work with a set of key words / concepts as a starting point for this exhibition. They work closely with each other's art, but not with a common project.
Torunn Skjelland - Looking Backwards. "Grand Aunt Anna traveled to Uganda to work as a nurse just before the country broke loose from British Africa. A time of much political unrest, but where a fair-skinned person could still benefit from the historic European "superiority". " This fictional story is the starting point for research into the history of immigration, emigration, colonization and religion. Through drawing, painting and collage a variety of personal photographs, old family pictures and Norwegian mission archive pictures are given a new life and content. In the exhibition Torunn Skjelland mixes situations, continents, time and space. These paintings and drawings, which at first glance looks like original documents, are all manipulated and composed of several layers of photographic material. After this interweaving, a meeting with the reworked material now leads to a new story. Skjelland has previously worked with family albums and similar photos where a single moment can be seen to represent a life-long impression; this being a theme that the artist often comes back to.
Kjersti Sundland - Recording Now. "I set foot upon the damp ground, the wet earth slowly penetrated through the fabric of my shoes. I cannot see the ground and I held the tree branches at a distance from my body. I stopped to listen, took a step backwards, waiting to give the eyes time to get used to the darkness. Gradually, simultaneous to knowing how my feet are getting wet inside the shoes, parts of the event came back ". Recording Now is a video installation, where those present can affect the movement and light in the film by making a sound in the installation room. The artist works with how we remember places and situations, and how events and memories are imprinted in the body. Kjersti Sundland is employed as a lecturer in new media at the Art and Design Academy in Bergen. In addition to working with her own art projects, Sundland is also a member of the artists group Undersentralen and Doppler.
